SCORING GOOD MARKS IN 10TH AND 12TH

SCORING GOOD MARKS IN 10TH AND 12TH

Yes, we’ve all got to go through the entire cycle of our board examinations, from the moment you step into a board class to the final days leading up to them. Family, relatives, friends, everyone has an eye on you now. For the class 10th students, there is this new added pressure of having to face the mighty “Boards” for the first time. 12thies have the added pressure of scoring high marks to secure admission into their desired college, and have an edge in their career with a stronger resume. Boards matter karte hain, boards matter nahi karte. You will hear both the statements and you will get confused. But, fear not, here are some of the many Manuj Mittal’s career mantras, and today we will tell you about how to approach and tackle this seemingly formidable enemy- The Board Examinations.

KEEP YOUR ARSENAL READY: YOUR NOTES
Always remember, the books will explain everything to you and clarify your concepts, but your notes will fetch you the marks. Because, let us face it, the books in our course our extensive and lengthy and often contain extra material; flipping through them a night before your examinations will be a disaster. Your notes are crisp and short, just the right thing for last minute revision. Always keep the notes provided by your teachers up to date, or just make them on your own. Summarize the chapters, write down the important points and formulae, and you will be good to go.

EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM: COMPLETING SYLLABUS
Complete your syllabus at most before your Diwali break. The last 3-4 months are to be reserved only for revision and self assessment. Take your pre-board examinations seriously; they are an excellent mechanism for evaluating your strengths and weaknesses and working on them. Your strengths will score you a decent score, but your weaknesses will pull you through the threshold of the decent, and put you into a very elite bracket. That is the difference between and 90%er and an 80%er. Complete the syllabus early and keep giving the tests, self evaluation is very necessary. The more you practice, the better you will be.

IT IS ALL ABOUT REGULARITY
Consider this; you had an internal examination at the beginning of the academic year. You prepared well, attended all classes up to that point and scored well. Then you dropped the books for the rest of the term. What will happen when the next internals come along? That’s right- frantic struggling for study material, arranging the notes, and cramming everything overnight. The result? Not so good.
You have to be regular and updated with the progress of the syllabus. Switching off for weeks at a stretch is not allowed. Make a habit of attending classes daily, following up at home. Your success will be defined by the habits you develop. Yes, you are allowed to take breaks every once in a while, you are allowed to relax and cool off for some time. But remember, you always have to keep coming back to your path.

HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDE
Some people are born with a natural aptitude, but without an iota of hardwork talent will fail you. The right attitude when combined with your aptitude, will decide your altitude. How much work you are willing to put into your preparation will decide the result. Yes it is true that boards are not a monster, performing poorly will not decide your future- you can always bounce back, but having the right outlook and positivity from Day 1 will take you far. Consider the Board examinations as simply another level in your favourite videogame, you just have to work hard to overcome it.

FOCUS Adolescence is a tricky age.
Distractions will creep into your life and waste your valuable time. Dating becomes a thing now. Social media is a thing now. You’ll meet temporary people and you’ll lose time permanently. In the midst of all this, you must remember your goal. Today’s youth is more willing to invest time and money in Netflix, Amazon Prime and whatnot, but buying a Kindle or reading A newspaper is beyond imaginary. The power of focus and concentration is beyond measure. Swami Vivekananda was known for his scanner like ability to read books, for he had the power of concentration. Result is the outcome of your concentration, focus and habits, so work hard and the fruits will shower.

THERE IS A FAMOUS STORY….
An employee once went to his boss and turned in his resignation. On being asked why, he blamed the negative work environment and unhealthy competition. He did not like how people talked about each other behind their back and judged and mocked each other’s every action.
The boss nodded, and gave the employee one last task before he could finally quit- To hold a glass of water and go around the entire office, without spilling a single drop. The employee, a bit surprised, agreed to do it. He took the glass of water, filled to the brim, and went to every nook and corner of the office, upstairs and downstairs. Finally, he returned to the boss without having spilt a single drop.
The boss was pleased, and asked him if he heard any one talking behind his back. The employee denied. It was then that the boss told him about the power of focus. He was so engrossed in his task that he did not pay any attention to the environment around him, and eventually he succeeded in completing it.

And this goes for every one of you too. To get that score you have always wanted, you have to keep your concentration on your path, and pay no heed to the surrounding distractions.
All The Best!
